Lisa Loring and Ted Cassidy on The Addams Family. |
Let us remember that any day of the year is a good day to watch the clip from The Addams Family in which Lisa Loring's Wednesday Addams teaches Ted Cassidy's Lurch how to dance. It's just one of the best things there is, and it has no expiration date. Go ahead and watch it the day after Halloween, especially if you're coming down fast from a sugar high. You'll see what I mean. It's from an episode called "Lurch's Grand Romance," which originally aired on April Fool's Day back in 1966, during the show's second groovy season. The context here is that Lurch the butler has a crush on one of Morticia's friends and wants to impress her. Little Wednesday Addams volunteers to teach him some dance moves, and then this happens:
So... yeah. Lisa Loring could really dance. Maybe she still can. She's one of the few Addams cast members still alive and kicking in 2015. Morticia, Lurch, Fester, Grandmama, and Pugsley are all gone, It's just Gomez, Wednesday, and Cousin Itt left now. Lisa's had one of those up-and-down lives, like many child stars. Drug addiction, a few marriages that went south on her. The usual. Funny how real life can be "creepier and kookier" than any sitcom. The hot rumor is that she wound up doing porn, but that's not 100% true. It was her third husband, Jerry Butler, who was actually a pornographic actor. Anyway, that's all behind her now. Hopefully, she can still take pleasure in little moments like this from the show. There have been a lot of Wednesday Addams remixes over the years. Here's maybe my favorite:
